Services

help seniors remain in their homes

We believe seniors do best in their own homes, so we offer services that help them live independently longer.

As you get older, the things that used to be easy can seem overwhelming. Cooking a meal, driving, getting to a doctor’s appointment. Jefferson Outreach helps provide food, transportation and assistance around the house. But more than that, we help our community’s frail elderly to feel loved, valued and special.

I Need Services

To quality for services, you must live within our service area. To sign for services for you or your loved one, please call us at (210) 734-5016.

I Will Volunteer

We’re always badly in need of volunteers, particularly the younger generation. Some of our volunteers are older than the people they’re serving!

Our Services

  • Mobile Meals

Daily nutritious meals are delivered Monday-Friday, including Holidays, to those who are unable to prepare their own meals. Meals are prepared by Morningside Meadows. All of this for a small fee of $4 per meal.
  • Grocery Delivery

We deliver groceries to the doors of those 60 or older. The client must call the office on Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to tell us their order. The groceries then are delivered to the client between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the next day; Thursday. There is a minor schedule change during the holidays.
  • Transportation

Volunteers provide transportation to/from medical appointments, door to door assistance to elderly who are not able to drive. Requests for transportation need to be made at least seven to ten days in advance and the client must pay own parking fees.
  • Home Repair

For some of our seniors, even changing a light bulb in an overhead lamp is a difficult task. Our volunteers can help with that – and do other simple tasks: Fixing a dripping faucet, replacing air conditioner filters, etc. Could you help a senior with some of these simple tasks? Volunteer today!
  • Lawn Service

Part of keeping seniors in their homes for as long as possible is lawn maintenance. Would you be willing to mow for a senior? We’ve got the mower and the gas – just give us a call!
  • Telephone Reassurance

Feeling lonely and wanting to talk to someone? Our volunteers will keep in touch with home-bound seniors.
  • Lunch Bunch

Congregate meals are available every Thursday at noon, except for the 5th Thursday of the month. Plates are only $3.00; take out plates are also available. Held at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2002 Bandera Road.
  • The Jefferson Thrift Shop

To help bring in a little bit of income for the Jefferson Outreach for, we opened a Thrift Store run by Volunteers Wednesday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with cool things being brought through our doors everyday! Come have a look to buy at great prices, or to volunteer, at our location at 2002 Bandera Road San Antonio, Texas 78228. You can call (210)438-8968 during open hours or visit the Thrift Shop's Facebook page.
